In 2018, 40 years after the Declaration of Alma-Ata, Member States, people, civil society and international development partners will come to togehter to renew commitments to strengthening primary health care to achieve universal health coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals.  Collective pledge and action are required in order to achieve this goal. In this inclusive spirit, WHO calls for comments of all stakeholders on the new Declaration on primary health care. (You can read the draft of the declaration here)

Primary health care is celebrating a big birthday this year, marking 40 years since the signing of the Declaration of Alma-Ata. On this occasion, the WHO European Regional Office journal Public Health Panorama* will publish a special issue on primary health care: putting principles in practice towards universal health coverage.
