Investing in Health in Europe!
We are very happy to announce that following the evaluation of the applications for membership to the Commission Expert Panel on effective ways of investing in health in response to the call of the expression of interest (2012/C 310/05) which was published in the Official Journal in October 2012, the Commission has communicated to nominate our chairman Prof Jan De Maeseneer for membership in the Expert Panel.

RCGP is launching the final version of the Social Media Highway Code on Monday 18th March leading up to a lunchtime Twitter debate on Friday 22nd March from 12-1pm (GMT). Chair of Council, Dr Clare Gerada and lead author of the Code, Dr Ben Riley will be taking part and hoping to replicate some of the buzz that surrounded the launch of a draft version at last year's annual conference.

To mark NHS Change Day, NHS Alliance launched a new manifesto for primary care, Breaking Boundaries, which calls for a fundamental shift in healthcare from acute to primary setting, it calls for the new Commissioning Board to commit to specific measures, and wants to see a paradigm shift in the management of health, wellbeing and all non-urgent care.

Prof Arnoldas Jurgutis and Ms Vaida Jukneviciute from the Klaipeda university describe the Primary Care organization in Lithuania in the newest EFPC member column. It makes clear that the future of Primary Care in Lithuania is uncertain. A strong lobby of the current government is promoting less privatization of Primary Care practices.
