Human centred care and holistic approach are very crucial for strong and effective primary care. Arts, particularly narratives and using drama, has a potential to be an efficient tool to achieve competencies needed to care the patient as a whole person. Involvement of art into primary care professionals’ training can help them to understand themselves and their patients better, especially by stimulating emotional intelligence. In  this webinar usage of art in education specifically for health professionals will be discussed. Some teaser statements about art and medical education can be find below. Do you think these are enough to explain the additive value of arts in medical education? or do you have other arguments to clarify the power of art in learning?
  1. Art, especially literature, is helpful for handling values rather than facts, ambivalence rather than reductionism, dealing with a world where not everything can be explained by experiments. 
  2. Art creates a stimulating environment for the primary care professionals to express their feelings and thoughts regarding different aspects of human nature and themselves in a reflective manner. T
  3. Art has a potential to support developing an ability to respond human needs during clinical work.
  4. Arts can have instrumental (better recognition of visual signs, developing skills to deal with uncertainty, etc) and non-instrumental (personal development, new ways of thinking beyond biomedical perspective, etc) functions when used for professional development. The latter can be achieved through sessions in which intrinsic value of art can be retained.
